Gigabit MN Service Changes
Dear Gigabit Minnesota Customer,
On behalf of all of us at Gigabit Minnesota, I want to thank you for being a Gigabit Minnesota customer.
Our goal is to provide you the fastest most reliable Internet in Rosemount and the best value in TV and
Telephone service.
Since our acquisition of the assets of FTTH in July 2014, we have been working on improving all of these services.
The end of 2014 brought many challenges, but we are positioning our services to be the local leader for Internet,
TV and Voice services and we want to reward our current customers for being loyal to us.
INTERNET SPEED INCREASES
We are improving the base speeds of our Internet service. Here is a summary of our Internet changes:- We will be raising the base speed of our 20Mbps internet service to 70Mbps for all of our current $49.95/month customers. If the equipment in your neighborhood supports the faster speed we will give it to you. We have determined that some of our current customers are on equipment that will not support that speed increase and we are working on developing the parameters to request a full neighborhood equipment upgrade for your neighborhood. We are planning on increasing all current customers speed to the fastest speed their current equipment is capable of (20, 40 or 70mbps for $49.95/mo.) - We are increasing our Internet speeds in our new bundles to 100Mbps subject to equipment availability.
- We will also be announcing the roll out our new Gigabit Internet service (1000Mbps) as we upgrade the equipment in your neighborhood. Stay tuned for further details!
TV CHANNEL CHANGES - Effective March 1, 2015
We will provide you the highest quality and most robust TV lineup you can find anywhere for the money. Rising TV programming costs are an industry-wide issue. Many providers are raising TV rates 6%, 10% and even more because of the increases we are all being given from the programmers. Keeping TV rates low requires great negotiations and lots of creativity. Our new TV service packages (if you choose to upgrade to them) will now require that you have a TV Fiber connection fee of $19.95 which we do not expect to change for as long as you are a customer. You can then choose to add the programming tier that you want that is subject to the programming cost increases in the future.PROGRAMMING FEE
Many of you currently have a $7.50/month "programming fee" on your bill. This fee is being increased to $9.95/month at the end of March due to the programming increases. We do not believe in hiding costs in fees, so our new TV pricing packages (which you can upgrade to if you prefer) all include those fees. We hope you choose to migrate to our new TV packages during the month of March to eliminate this fee from your bill. The new TV Packages provide you the best value in TV programming and should save you money over the old packages, give you HD programming, and more channels. Here is a brief summary of the changes you will see effective March 1, 2015:- We have modified our new TV packages into 2 new packages: Basic HD and Expanded Basic HD. Both of these packages will include HD programming for the channels in those tiers at no additional charge.
- The Expanded Basic HD package will now include many new channels, as we have eliminated the Kids, Education and Music Add-ons and added those channels into this tier. This actually will save us money and we are passing on those savings to keep your TV costs down.
- For those of you who like sports. We are developing a new Sports Tier that will include SEC, PAC12, Longhorn networks and many other sports options. This is available now for $9.95/month with the Expanded Basic HD package and we will be adding new channels as soon as we can to this add-on package.
- Our Whole Home DVR and Set Top box costs continue to rise, so we are raising the monthly rental fees for each of these for our new customers. Whole Home DVR is going from $15.95/month to $19.95/month and each HD Set Top Box is going from $5.95/month to $9.95/month. Our current customers will continue to pay our current/old rates for as long as you are a customer even if you need an upgrade.
