We wanted to provide you with information about the outages we experienced this week, and the steps we’re taking to address the root cause. We take the trust you place in us to provide fast, reliable Internet service seriously and are committed to continuous improvement.
A section of our fiber backbone provided by a 3rd party vendor was damaged by a road construction project on Tuesday, August 9th and then again on Wednesday August 10th. On Thursday August 11th the cable carrying our fiber was completely cut. The complexity of the repair resulted in a much longer outage on Thursday.
We are immediately beginning the search for a second, physically diverse, path for the affected section of our network. We are also taking steps to improve our ability to pro-actively communicate outage information to you.
